Look, GIFs! Also, we updated Trailhead.

We just had our biggest content release to date. And we’re pretty excited about it.

Trailhead is the fun way to learn Salesforce. Our Trailhead content releases run every 6 weeks (as of the time of this writing), and each release features new badges, updated badges, and occasionally, retired badges. In addition, 3x a year we refresh all Trailhead content alongside the Salesforce major releases.

This is a lot of work, and our teams work very hard to keep Trailhead weird. And today, we just had our biggest content release to date!

this is the Trailhead Editorial team right about now

This release had a slew of new content, updates to existing content, and a handful of modules retired. Because there were a lot of changes, I thought you might want to understand what changed and why.

We moved some stuff around and added more hands-on challenges

Yes, we did. We moved some things around.

And we know some of you aren’t fond of us changing stuff like this, because you like it when you’re done with something.

I am a checklist kind of person, so I completely understand how you fall in love with the green checkmarks in Trailhead that indicate you’re done with something. And that progress bar. Ooh-la-la.

And then we move stuff around and your progress bar gets all messed up and the green checkmark disappears.

we get it

But here’s the deal. Every time we launch a new module, it has to go in a trail somewhere. So every 6 weeks, we *have* to change the trails, to add all the new stuff. And this time around, we had to move some things, because we were updating some content from Salesforce Classic to Lightning Experience (more on that in just a minute).

As far as adding challenges go, we think hands-on is the secret sauce of Trailhead. So stuff that is quiz-based, we want to make it hands-on if we can.

We retired some content

Some of our stuff just had to go.

Some of our content was duplicative. And some of it was old and not in good shape. And some of it was old, not in good shape, AND duplicative. So we retired 3 modules that were like that: Data Management, UI Customization, and App Customization.

In each instance, we replaced the module with either a better version or left the duplicate version live. And rest assured, if you already earned the badge, we won’t take it away; it will stay on your profile.

We added a bunch of new badges

Oh yeah! Click the New tag at trailhead.com and explore all the new stuff. Make sure you click Modules and Projects to see all the new goodness.

this GIF doesn’t have anything to do with this but it’s amazing

We updated a bunch of trails to Lightning Experience

Admin Beginner, Admin Intermediate, and Developer Beginner trails all now feature Lightning Experience and Lightning framework.

We still have a lot of Classic content, never fear.

Plus, our Rock Your Future With Salesforce trail was half Salesforce Classic and half Lightning Experience. Which was weird, and not in a good way. So we went all in on Lightning Experience.

But wait, there’s more

I didn’t even mention that our writers updated all the content for the Summer ’17 release. And for the Visual Workflow fans out there, your writer updated the 3 flow projects on Trailhead to the Lightning framework, too. (Go Sam!) Oh, and we also updated 6 Quick Start projects to the Lightning framework.

You can find all these updates now at trailhead.com.

So as you can see, it’s been a busy month for Team Trailhead. We’re so excited to ship all this new and updated content your way. And remember, trailblazers, if learning is a journey, then a trail never truly ends.

See you on the trail!

Thanks for reading.
