The Road to Ranger — Skill Up with Trailhead
Ranking up to Trailhead Ranger is not something you can do in a day or a week… You need to make time for learning and plan your path. The #RoadToRanger program will help get you there.
Trailhead is fun with gamified learning, but it is, at its #Trailheart, designed to help you learn new information and skill up. Unlocking your Trailhead Ranger rank means earning 100 badges and 50,000 points.
And there’s no better feeling than when your profile ticks over to this highest rank, showing you’ve got skills!
But more than that, becoming a #TrailheadRanger empowers you to develop the in demand skills that lead to top jobs, paves the way for your certification journey, and enables you to help others along the way.
I’m #RangerMegan, one of the Trailhead Ranger pioneers, and I love to see all the social posts from Trailblazers showing how proud they are to have reached this learning milestone. There’s a sense of satisfaction from having learned loads AND having had a ton of fun doing it.
My Trailhead crush
OK, I’ll admit it. I’ve had a crush on Trailhead right from the start. I remember literally laughing out loud during some units because of the puns, fun tone, and quirky examples. The hands-on challenges were so cool and something I’d never seen before. I was totally hooked.
I kept learning and earning badges, as I felt it was the best way to stay up-to-date on the latest and greatest in the Salesforce world.
Where to start
In my role, I spend a lot of time with the #SalesforceOhana talking about all things Trailhead. One of the questions asked over and over is, “I want to become a Ranger, but where do I start?” So I developed a plan on how anyone can get to Ranger rank, no matter their level.
- Trailmix 1 — Let’s get started with the basics about Trailhead,
Salesforce, and some important guiding principles.
- Trailmix 2 — Let’s take a look at our technology.
- Trailmix 3 — Let’s get hands-on and earn some points!
It’s not a race
Becoming a Ranger is definitely not a sprint. Ranking up should take time.
You should focus on not only achieving badges but also completing some of the points-heavy challenges. This way, you’ll prove that you’ve spent the time to truly skill up and be able to apply what you’ve learned to real-world scenarios.
Although you are all at different stages of your Trailhead learning journey, I recommend doing the Road to Ranger trailmixes in order.
You may have already earned some of these badges (so you’ve got a head start!), but that’s what makes this program so paw-some (get it?).
#RoadToRanger can help someone who doesn’t have any badges just as well as someone who is on the cusp of unlocking Ranger rank.
And the Quest part is…
The real reward for becoming a Ranger is, of course, all that learning. But with Trailhead Quests, there’s even MOAR incentive to unlock your Ranger rank.
The monthly #RoadToRanger quest gives you the chance to win* a Salesforce certification voucher. Check out all the details.
Sometimes, finding the time to dedicate to Trailhead can be tricky. That’s the beauty of #TrailheadTuesday — an informal way for you to meet up (in person or virtually) with fellow Trailblazers to work on Trailhead together.
If you get stuck on a harder unit or hands-on challenge, you can work through it with your peers. Also, it’s fun to learn with friends.
Why not sign up for your local session? Simply search #TrailheadTuesday in the Trailblazer Community for details. If you don’t see one in your area, start your own!
If you’re not there already, make it your goal to hit Ranger rank this year. Are you with me? Shout out your #RoadToRanger plans on social, and let us know when you get there so we can help you celebrate!
Let’s blaze a trail to Ranger together!
