“Traveling — it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.” — Ibn Battuta

Nothing makes travel more fulfilling than the memories that become stories we share — or don’t share, in some cases. Still, travel opens portals, connecting us to the world around us.

Welcome to Trameter Stories, where your travel adventures call home. From the first flicker of wanderlust to reliving your craziest adventures, we want to hear every detail. Whether you’re a globetrotting pro with more miles than a marathon runner or a newbie adventurer just getting started, we’re here to let you shine. Share your craziest travel stories with us — we’re all ears!

Our mission? To spark that travel fever in everyone who reads our stories and inspire them to pack their bags and hit the road.

Our vibe: We’re all about mixing education with fun and a touch of humor.

So tell us everything;

  • Your bucket list is running over with places you want to be but haven’t gone for some reason? Tell us.
  • Oh, you have a destination in mind but the 2-week trip planning is running into 2 months? Do tell us.
  • Maybe you remember a time your flight was delayed or you lost your luggage. Let’s hear it.

We hunger for tales of exploration, handy-dandy travel tips, heartfelt reflections, and everything in between! Check out our stories here.

Submission guidelines:

We believe your story is worth reading but before you dip your reflective pen into your ink of memories, take a gander at these nifty guidelines:

  • Unpublished content: We accept only the freshest, never-before-seen drafts on Medium.
  • Content length: Aim for articles between 400–1000 words — just enough to leave them wanting more.
  • Formatting: Think of formatting like your trusty travel itinerary — make sure it’s tidy, organized, and easy to follow. Learn more about the Medium Editor here
  • Images: A picture’s worth a thousand words, so choose a photo that aids your story. We encourage you to share your own photos. But in cases where the photo belongs to someone else, remember to give proper credit.
  • Citations: If you must, cite your sources with active links for good measure.
  • No promotions: No spammy or promotional content.
  • Grammar and mistakes: Make the work easy on our editors by submitting stories devoid of any mistakes. Use Grammarly or Hemingway Editor to edit your story. It makes the publishing process easier and faster.
  • Tags and titles: According to Medium guidelines, you can use as many as 5 tags. For us, ‘Trameter Stories’ is a tag that goes on all stories. Oh, and catchy titles are like catnip for our readers — so get creative!
  • Use of AI: We’re all about sharing authentic travel experiences. Sure, you can use AI tools to edit, but let’s stick to real-life experiences. Check out Medium’s take on human storytelling vs artificial intelligence here.
  • Tone of voice: We’re smart and savvy travelers. We write in a witty and playful tone but polite and kind. Keep it that way and we’ll become BFFs.
  • Feedback: We give feedback within 48 hours of a story being submitted.

How to hitch a ride:

Ready to hop on board the Trameter train? Just follow these simple steps:

  1. Follow the publication: Make sure you follow the publication to get in.
  2. Leave a comment: Drop us a line with your username and a declaration of your desire to contribute, e.g. Please add me @trameter.

Now that you’re on board;

  1. If you’ve been accepted as a writer for Trameter Stories, open your unpublished draft and check the three dots at the top right side of your screen where you can choose Trameter Stories for your story to roost.
  2. We prefer you submit once a week. No, you can’t submit more than one story per time.
  3. Engage, engage, engage. Engagement is the lifeline of this community. Scrub in. Follow, clap, and comment on articles from fellow writers in the community. You might learn a thing or two from their experiences.

Copyright and stuff

While you’re the proud owner of your literary masterpiece, by submitting it to Trameter Stories, you’re giving us the green light to publish and distribute it far and wide. Oh, and if you ever decide to pull the plug on your story, just give us a heads-up, okay? We like to keep things drama-free around here.

We Do Not Publish

Anything that would trespass the Medium rules.

We believe your travel tales deserve to be shared and can’t wait to read them. Keep your eyes peeled for updates, and in the meantime, keep on exploring!
