Startrek Trill a Transgender Conception

I truly find it interesting how they perceived Trill in Star Trek series and how they cross the boundaries of what it means to be a genderless symbiont that takes on a gender upon joining with a Host. This concept of conditions has similar things to those who are transgender and the outside perception of others when their gender changes.
In Star Trek next generation season 4, episode 23: The Host, you meet a Trill who is a symbiont who is inside a male body. The man who hosted the symbiont Ambassador Odan lives as a male for many years in which Dr. Crusher a female medical officer falls in love with. Throughout the show you can clearly see the love between the two was getting very intense and highly romantic. The host eventually dies, but takes commander Riker as a temporary Host which takes Dr. Crusher a little time to adjust. But eventually gives into her feelings, seeing that he has not changed inside.
However, once the new Host finally arrives, Dr. Crusher is met with a female host, and transplants the Symbiont with the new permanent Host. Now the Trill joining with a female body Kareel makes Dr. Crusher change her point of view, her love and happiness for the Trill because of this gender change.
