Code that Matters: Transfix’s Technology Team
Engineering talent is in high demand nationwide, so developers have a lot of choice when it comes to their career. Studies have shown that while perks and benefits matter to technical employees, there are some intangibles in a prospective employer that are even more crucial. At Transfix, we strive to provide our engineers the opportunity to:
- Learn new things
- Exercise creativity to solve problems
- Have a voice
- Build something that matters
Our co-founder and CTO, Jonathan Salama, was recently featured as a guest author on Amazon Web Services’ blog. In the dedicated post, he spoke about how AWS SageMaker is a natural fit for Transfix, not only because it allows us to provide highly sophisticated technology for today’s enterprise shippers, but also because it allows our developers to go beyond being in the weeds.
“I like to think of it like this,” Salama said, “If you become a chef, it’s because you love to create delicious meals, not because you want to chop onions all day. The same thing applies to engineers or data scientists: You want to work on the code itself, not on worrying about the deployment process or what kind of instance type to run your code on.”
Even though our tech team’s primary focus is on delivering a stellar experience for shippers and carriers, we know that our developers also want meaningful opportunities to apply their smarts and skills to innovate other areas of the business. A great example is our annual engineering Hackathon, which we recently hosted. Nine teams were given 24 hours to solve a business, operational, or customer issue of their choice. Entries tackled a variety of challenges: from the availability levels of our cold brew machine to enhancing the new employee onboarding experience.
We are currently hiring motivated, passionate software engineers who want to use the power of technology to solve complex problems. If you’re unafraid of a challenge, we want to talk to you. Check out and apply to one of our open positions today!
