For Earth Week 2019, Transfix is Doing Our Part to Reduce Environmental Impact
Happy Earth Day and Week! At Transfix, we’re passionate about doing what we can to reduce environmental impact, both in our offices and out on the road.
Our product, which uses machine learning and data to better help shippers make informed decisions to optimize time and revenues, is also a powerful way to reduce CO2 emissions over time. By better utilizing the trucks and drivers that are already on the road, the industry will become more efficient over time and generate less environmental waste.
This year, we are also launching a week-long internal program called Transfixing the Earth Week to reduce waste in our own NYC and Nashville offices. First, we are gathering used electronics for recycling. Did you know you can recycle all of these items?
- Computers (laptops & desktops, servers, mainframes)
- Monitors (CRT and flatscreen)
- Network devices (routers, hubs, modems, etc.)
- Peripherals (keyboards, mice, cables, cords, chargers, etc.)
- Tablets and e-readers
- Components (hard drives, CD-ROMs, circuit boards, power supplies, etc.)
- Printers under 100 pounds, scanners, fax-machines, etc
- TVs, VCRs, DVRs, DVD & Blu-ray Players
- Digital Converter Boxes, Cable/Satellite Receivers
- Portable music players
- Audio-visual equipment
- Video-games
- Cell phones, pagers, PDAs
- Telecommunication (phones, answering machines, etc.)
Normally, as a New Yorker, you have to drive to a city facility, but we’re making it easy for employees to participate by gathering recyclables at the office and then taking them in bulk for proper disposal and recycling. In exchange for participating, we’re giving employees their very own green-gift of a money tree desk plant! (Which also promotes clean oxygen in our working environment: win win!)
Stay tuned for more updates on how Transfix plans to continue to reduce waste, both in our core product offering and internal programs like these.
