Cab Drivers Endure a Long and Frustrating Wait for Passengers

The streets were quiet at 6 a.m. in most of Midtown Manhattan, but not at the taxi stand near the New York Hilton Midtown Hotel, on Sixth Avenue near 53rd Street. It’s a place for a dozen or more cab drivers to get a dependable fare, usually to an airport in Queens or Newark.
