In 1997, Christopher Chabris and Daniel Simons met at Harvard University. Within seven years, they’d won the Ig Nobel Prize in Psychology, awarded for “achievements that first make people laugh, and then make them think.”

The experiment that won them such acclaim was “The Invisible Gorilla.”
