Transmute’s Github Action tool lets users work directly with Transmute Verifiable Data Platform (VDP) to create infinite custom workflows for Verifiable Credentials (VCs).

Transmute Full Stack Engineer Isaac Byrne and Solutions Architect Nis Jespersen sat down to chat about Transmute’s newly published Verifiable Credential (VC) GitHub Action.

Transmute is excited to announce the launch of our new Verifiable Credentials (VC) GitHub Action. The Action is designed to work in tandem with Transmute Verifiable Data Platform (VDP) and enables infinite custom workflows incorporating VCs.

“GitHub Marketplace has thousands of actions that can be integrated into your workflow, but not one of them allows you to work with Verifiable Credentials (VCs) — until now. Transmute Verifiable Data Platform (VDP) empowers users to issue, verify, and present verifiable credentials within their workflow using our new GitHub Action. GitHub is gaining traction among business users, not just DevOps users, so we’re excited to give them the ability to introduce VCs into their workflows,” says Nis Jespersen.

The Transmute VC GitHub Action is a wrapper around Transmute’s API that allows GitHub users to invoke Transmute VDP within their workflows. The first action of its kind on the GitHub Marketplace, it enables users to issue, verify, and present verifiable credentials within their workflows, thus allowing users to ensure an extra layer of automation to their security and compliance needs.

The Action is designed to work with Transmute VDP’s “freemium” plan and targets grassroots users who are familiar with VC technology and won’t shy away from a little scripting or coding. (We’re looking at you, CTOs, IT directors, proof of concept-builders, and anyone invested in your organization’s security technology). We know that even experienced users may find themselves lost in the weeds with overwhelming technical specifications — that’s why we designed the Transmute GitHub Action to simplify the integration of VCs into your workflow without having to reinvent the wheel.

“If this was a traditional flow, you’d have all these steps: issuing, then go get the challenge, then your keys, retrieve the challenge, and so on. The people using Transmute’s GitHub Action really just want to receive some data and then send it to someone else, hassle-free. We built Transmute’s GitHub action to offer that clean, simple experience,” says Isaac Byrne.

Transmute’s Verifiable Credential GitHub Action creates many opportunities for businesses, including increasing the security and compliance of existing workflows without having to start from scratch, and improving proof of concept development. We’re thrilled to be the first to introduce VC integration into the GitHub Marketplace; you can check it out here.
