What information about Polish companies can be found in CEIDG?

What Polish companies can be found in the CEIDG register and how many?

CEIDG is the abbreviation of the Polish Central Register and Information on Economic Activity (pol.: Centralna Ewidencja i Informacja o Działalności Gospodarczej), i.e. a register of sole proprietorships that operate in Poland. The purpose of establishing the CEIDG in Poland was to improve the processes related to running a business, because the CEIDG register allows to set up, suspend and close a company and update data related to it.

Sole proprietorships are by far the most popular legal forms for running a company in Poland. Currently, according to data from CEIDG, there are almost 2.7 million such active activities.

The obligation to register in CEIDG applies only to sole proprietorships. However, CEIDG sometimes serves as a source of information about a civil partnership that operates in Poland, and more precisely about its partners who, in order to run business through a civil partnership, must be registered in the Polish Central Register and Information on Economic Activity as entrepreneurs. Information about other companies can be found in the Polish National Court Register (pol.: Krajowy Rejestr Sądowy or shortly KRS), about which we wrote in a separate article:

What information on sole proprietorships from Poland can be found in the CEIDG register?

Basic data about the entrepreneur:

  • First name and last name
  • Tax identification number — in poland called NIP number and REGON number
  • Full name of the company

Contact details that are rarely entered in CEIDG in practice, but this register has room for such information as:

  • E-mail address
  • A website address
  • Phone number
  • Fax number
  • Another form of contact

Address data and information about citizenships:

  • Permanent place of business
  • Additional permanent places of business
  • Address for service
  • Information on the entrepreneur’s citizenships

Additional data in the form of information about:

  • Date of commencement, suspension, resumption and cessation of economic activity
  • Date of deletion of the entry from the CEIDG register
  • Predominant activity, i.e. the main PKD code — codes that define the industry in which given company operates
  • Additional PKD codes, with which the entrepreneur also defines the subject of his activity

In addition, the CEIDG register may also contain information about a given business activity, such as:

  • Joint property of spouses
  • Business status (e.g. active)
  • Information on operating in a civil partnership
  • Prohibitions — e.g. practicing a profession where it is necessary to register your activity in CEIDG or a ban on conducting activities related to the upbringing, treatment, education or care of minors
  • Information on bankruptcy, reorganization or restructuring proceedings
  • Information about the succession manager
  • Data on the representatives and proxies of the entrepreneur
  • Information on the professional qualifications of the entrepreneur

The CEIDG register allows users to download the entity’s entry in PDF format and, separately, data on proxies, even if they have not been appointed. In this case, the document confirms that the company has no authorized representatives.
