Polish open data in 4th place in Open Data Maturity 2021

Poland moved up from 6th to 4th place in the Open Data Maturity 2021 Report ranking, which makes it once again the open data trendsetter in Europe. This year, Poland overtook Estonia and Denmark, which fell from the podium to the far 12th place.

Poland in the Open Data Maturity 2021 Report ranked 4th

This year, Poland moved up two places in the Open Data Maturity 2021 Report ranking, which assesses the progress and the general level of maturity of countries in Europe when it comes to opening public data. At the moment, the general level of data maturity in Poland has been estimated at 95%, which is 5% more than in the previous year. Only France, Ireland and Spain boasted a higher rate in 2021.

For the second year in a row, Poland was in the group of trendsetters, where apart from the above-mentioned countries, there is also Estonia and, for the first time, Ukraine. Last year, Poland was overtaken by Estonia and Denmark. It is worth to mention that Denmark was ranked 1st in the Open Data Maturity 2020 Report ranking and this year is ranked only 12th.

Poland on the podium in the Impact category according to Open Data Maturity 2021 Report ranking

Poland ranks first among the other European countries in the Impact category. The authors of the Open Data Maturity 2021 Report granted it 100% of the points. It is a promotion from the 3rd place. By impact you should understand the influence of open data initiatives on certain aspects of economic and social life.

The Polish Data Portal was certainly part of this result, as far as it is the central dataplatform of public open data, which also was estimated very high in a separate category Portal. It took there 2nd place. For comparison, in the previous year it was 4th. It is also worth noting that in separate sub-categories, this Polish government portal received very high marks for the stability of operations and a long-term strategy of adding value.

The Open Data Maturity 2021 Report indicates that the Polish Open Data Portal recorded the highest traffic of using its APIs, which for us as a provider of economic data is a clear signal that open data is used in Poland by business, foundations and cities. What’s more, access to open data, and more specifically technological development in this area, is extremely important for companies whose activities affect the Polish economy.
