Crabbing in Tillamook Bay

Some guys, getting some crabs. Wait a minute…

This is less about adventure, and more about booze and cheese, but who’s counting? We began our weekend at a beautiful rental in Netarts Bay.

Planned our crabbing route carefully. Tillamook Bay is no joke [video].

Started drinking, and took a walk on the bay.

Erik got a bit squirrely and decided to jump in to the 57°F water, and drag unwilling others in.

The rest of us decided it’s better to go in under your own will. I executed a flawless underwater handstand in my underwear.

That night we watched a great sunset, drank our way to an reasonable bed time, and woke up all too early the next morning.

We boarded boats, loaded traps, and set out to crab.

Some of us had high, potentially unrealistic, expectations for the size of crabs we’d haul.

We set our traps.

And waited. And drank while waiting.

And the crabs started rolling in, feeding off the chicken we stuffed the traps with. Their sex was identified and they were measured for removal.

After a fun morning, and small catch, we watched as many boats left the bay.

We headed home for a feast.

As the sun went down once again, we drank some more, ate some more, and took each other’s money.

Thanks to Voyager Capital, SVB and Cresa for the great trip.

Good food and good company. Nothing better.
