Festival Village

The Festival Village event held in Sydney is as anyone would imagine a wonderful place filled with food, music, theatre and various other treats for all ages and at all hours.

The event will be held at the fantastic Hyde Park in the centre of the Australian city between the 9th and the 16th of January, 2014.

Some great acts include theatre performers Scotch and Soda, which are a group of artists from previous Sydney Festival hits such as Cantina, Smoke & Mirrors and La Clique so expect music, stunts and an exciting performance. Get ready for punk princess Amanda Palmer just returned from the world tour of her acclaimed album Theatre is Evil on the Spiegeltent stage and treat yourself to amazing American singer Cat Power performing two special sets with a full band. Mick Turner, guitarist in Australian band Dirty Three, will perform his extraordinary new album Don’t Tell the Driver at Circus Ronaldo in the park for a one-off gig. Apart from anything else the festival has that amazing vibe that can’t be replicated anywhere else apart from somewhere there is music, dance and theatre.

Venture over to Parramatta for the free opening party in Prince Albert Park on the 10th of January to celebrate under the stars with some world-class music and hot DJs.

Have some fun in the Boxwars area by covering yourself in Mad Max-inspired full cardboard armour to battle with fellow box-builders. Don’t forget there is some tasty festival food located near the venues for revellers to re-fuel before the next event.

Hyde Park is the beating heart of Sydney so the main events will be very rewarding for visitors in this lush green space. Look out for the family performances on each day from 10am. The Festival Village is of course for adults looking for some evening action and licensed bars open from 5pm onwards. So look forward to some balmy summer nights with dance party Hot Dub Time Machine and DJ Tom Loud taking you on a journey through the musical history of the last 60 years.

This is an event to eat, enjoy and take in the party atmosphere because the festival vibe is definitely coming to excite people in Sydney next month.
