Understanding Sumud: Freedom Camp

--

صمود : مخيم الحريه | Sumud: Freedom Camp | צֻמוּד: מחנה חירות

Sumud: Freedom Camp is “a diverse community whose sacred values compel us to join in shared nonviolent resistance to discrimination, inequality, and occupation and build a future in which the civil and human rights of all people are recognized unequivocally.” They are a coalition made up of All That’s Left: Anti Occupation Collective, The Center for Jewish Nonviolence, Combatants for Peace, and Holy Land Trust.

This camp is an effort by these coalition members to join together as Palestinians, Israelis, Jewish and international activists against the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories. Specifically, the coalition’s activities within the camp focus on engaging in shared resistance, civil disobedience, and nonviolent community action.

You can learn more about the camp’s values, goals, and purpose by reading the articles published by The Washington Post, The Jerusalem Post, Haaretz, or Al Jazeera.
