Our 9th destination this Summer Holiday-Season and the first true travel post we make takes us 9000km South from Home to South Africa and Mozambique.

Planned are 4 different Safari Lodges in South Africa plus a final few days on a Mozambique Island in the Indian Ocean.

Hungry Boys, Tswalu

We begin in The Motse Lodge at Tswalu Game Reserve, Kalahari. Owned by the Oppenheimer Family and primarily a conversation area, Tswalu was declared a Nature Reserve in 2014. It is home to 80 kinds of mammals and 240 different bird species with many of them endangered.

Kudu, Tswalu

Landolozi Private Granite Suites, located in Sabi Sands Game Reserve, and Royal Malewane in Thornybush Game Reserve, are stops 2 and 3. Both, together with a few other reserves, form the Greater Kruger National Park. Except for the big 5, Greater Kruger is home to hundreds of other mammals and bird species. It covers roughly 20,000 square km, and is therefor about the same size as Slovenia.

Our last Lodge in South Africa takes us close to the border with Botswana. Molori Safari Lodge lies inside Madikwe Game Reserve, a 750 square km big bushland. It was opened in 1991 and replaced farmland that proved rather unsuccessful in the area due to bad soil.

To end our trip we will be heading to Mozambique, to enjoy a few days on Benguerra, a 55 square km big island roughly 14km off the shore of Mozambique.
