Lithuania itinerary suggestions

We’ve made some simple suggestions for an ideal itinerary based on the amount of time you’ve got in Lithuania. For photos & things to do on the locations mentioned below, please visit our other post here.

2 to 3 Days

For a short trip to Lithuania it’s best to split your time between the capital city, Vilnius, and a day visit to Trakai (only 10–15 euro by taxi from Vilnius)

Vilnius (1 or 2 days)

Trakai (day trip/1 day)

3 to 5 Days

For 3 to 5 days you can base yourself in Vilnius, and rent a car to explore the surroundings on the eastern part of Lithuania.

Vilnius (2 days)

Trakai (1 day)

Visit a lake (day trip/1day) from our list here all approximately 1 hour away from Vilnius.

5 to 7 Days

For a trip closer to a week, we’d suggest staying in the city for a couple of days. You can then rent a car and spend the rest of the time exploring and sleeping in nature aka the ‘real’ Lithuania.

Vilnius (2 days)

Trakai (1 or 2 days)

Obuoliu Sala (2 to 3 days)

7 Days to 14 Days

For a longer trip longer than a week you can explore all the interesting lakes on the east side of the country, then venture out to the western area for Lithuania’s unique beaches in Nida.

Vilnius (2 days)

Trakai (1 or 2 days)

Kaunas (1 or 2 days)

Obuoliu Sala (2 to 3 days)

Nida (3 to 4 days)
