Picnic list & food to take back home from Lithuania
Dziugas
This cheese is very similar to Grana padano/Parmigiano reggiano. It’s found in every supermarket, it’s got it’s own shops and also found at the airport. Best is to buy the ones aged 24 or 36 months. A must try!
Meats
Lithuania has a lot of smoked meats that are really worth a try. At the supermarket you’ll find a whole area dedicated to smoked meats. In my opinion they are ALL GOOD. Biovela Juodasis kumpis is recommended. Grab a few different ones and see for yourself.
You can buy the more exotic/homemade ones at the main market Hales Turgus (Map link here). You might need a bit of sign language here as English might not be well spoken. Enjoy!
Other Cheeses
Liliputas (Suris) is a light Lithuanian cheese.
Snacks
Bon Chance crisps are ‘local’ (baltic) crisps. Very good snack for picnics.
Chocolates
Taitau dark chocolate is awesome.
Pergale & Karuna chocolates are local and good. The chocolate covered nuts are particularly good.
Brown Bread
My personal favourite is JORE brown bread, but there are loads to choose from at the supermarkets or markets.
