An article on Wanderlust shares the 100 greatest places to travel, but I am going to sum it up by showing the top 5 and explaining why they are so wonderful.

#5- Bora Bora (snorkeling with manta rays): People love to snorkel and see the amazing sea creatures under water, and people also love the beautiful island of Bora Bora, and this trip captures both of those! The article says: “immerse yourself in the shallow lagoon and wait for a graceful giant to glide silently by.” Don’t worry- manta rays are very nice and harmless- they will never hurt you. Infact, they are very curious and love to swim by divers. You don’t want to miss out on this crazy-awesome experience!

#4- Madagascar (learning about lemurs): Madagascar is an island many people have heard of, but have never been there. It is the oldest island in the world. The pretty flora and fauna that grows there has developed in isolation over tens of millions of years. Madagascar has also developed an interesting creature- the lemur- which is a gentle primate. The article states that “There are 86 different species recognized, ranging from mouse lemurs up to the indri, the size of a chimpanzee.” The lemurs in Madagascar are loved by people all over the world, and this is an experience you won’t want to miss!

#3- Timbuktu, Mali (exploring): Many people have never heard of this small, dusty town, but once you have visited there, you will never want to leave. The article explains it best: “Visit the bustling market, where salt was once worth as much as gold, and then cool down with sweet tea as you barter for silver with the Tuareg nomads. Come sunset, venture out into the dessert by camel, and drift to sleep under a million stars.” This fantasy is actually real, believe it or not. This beautiful city is waiting for you to come explore…

#2- Rwanda/Uganda (meeting mountain gorillas): Even though these creatures may look scary and dangerous, they are not- they are surprisingly peaceful. Alan Wood described his experience by saying, “Imagine our surprise when we came upon the family of gorillas all sleeping peacefully with only the silverback on watch. We sat enchanted at their feet and, after a while, they started to wake and stretch just like a human family in the morning. He was unperturbed by our presence and we felt privileged to be visiting.” It’s so cool that you can get so close to them in this area. This awesome place is one for the bucket list!

#1- Galápagos Islands, Ecuador (exploring): The view from these islands are like no other- welcome to the Galápagos Islands! There are so many sight-seeing activities to do, and everywhere you look is breathtaking. You can watch giant tortoises mate in swirling mists, get nose to nose with a seafaring lizard, or snorkel with a group of penguins…on the equator! The article explains how the islands are “scenically and sensorially spectacular.” This place is so gorgeous, and you are missing out if you don’t visit these islands!

Hopefully you found some new places you would be interested in traveling to, or if not, I hope you learned something new. All of these places are wonderful, and each has its own uniqueness. Which place are you going to try?
