  1. La Sagrada Familia — Gaudi’s unfinished masterpiece and the most bizarre cathedral you will every see. Surprisingly light and peaceful inside. Pre-purcahse tickets to avoid the huge lines and grab a guide (book, audio or human) to fully understand the facades. To get more Gaudi, also check out Casa Batllo on Passeig de Gracia.
  2. La Boqueria — Offically El Mecat de Sant Josep, La Boqueria is packed full of the best fresh produce from Catalonia. This is where the chefs come to stock their larders. Enjoy the buzz then eat and drink direct from the suppliers.
  3. Museu Picasso — Full of pieces from the genius’ early work. A must for any art buff.
  4. Sangria in Barceloneta — This region of reclaimed land has a great vibe, especially through the small streets in the centre (away from the waterfront). Grab a bite and a drink at one of the bars; the sangria at El Ben Plantat is excellent.
  5. Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC) — The impressive building sitting on Montjuic is home to an interesting collection highlighting Catalan art through the ages. The trip over to Montjuic itself is well worth the effort.
