The current situation with Diesel in Uruguay

According to the United Nations Environment Programme 2022 report [1], sulfur levels in Diesel can reach 50 ppm! However, there is also good news: ULSD is available at some gas stations.

First of all, you don’t find Diesel at the gas pump. Let me explain. Diesel in Uruguay is called GAS OIL.

In Uruguay, there are two types of Diesel commonly sold:

Gasoil 50-S with a 50ppm maximum concentration of sulfur [2]
Gasoil 10-S with a 10 ppm maximum concentration of sulfur [3]

Gasoil 50-S is the most common and available at all gas stations. Gasoil 10-S is rare but still available at some gas stations.

Where to find ULSD in Uruguay?

ANCAP

ANCAP is a state-owned gas and refinery company in Uruguay and one of the most common gas stations in the country. The name of the ULSD product at the pump is GAS OIL 10-S.

Disa

Disa is another chain that offers ULSD [4] with gas stations spread throughout the country. [5]
