When we think about Morrocco we think about vivid colors, great food and a rich culture. The fascinating Moroccan and more specifically Berber culture, is something that can not be overlooked when traveling in this country. The artisanal crafts, the production of carpets, jewelry and Argan oil are rooted in their culture and we want you to discover it in the best way possible: close to the artisans and in a non mass-market way.

What is to expect?

Immerse yourself into the Moroccan and Berber culture

From Day 1 you will dive into the very heart of the Morroccan culture. The experience will begin with a visit of the Souk (the central market) of Marrakesh, followed by a traditional lunch and afternoon mint tea in the Medina. You will be then driven into the heart of the desert in the Atlas, to the eco-Kasbah. To understand what the Berber culture and heritage are about, you will visit on the road to Essaouira, a 100% women cooperative where traditional carpets and jewelry are produced. Essaouira, the medieval city, known for its seafood will offer you a great insight of what Moroccan cuisine has to offer (we absolutely love it!).

Explore Morrocco like a local

Whether it is visiting the Medina of Marrakesh or the fisher’s harbor of Essaouira we want to offer you the chance to explore the country like a local. Getting off the tourist paths, and lose ourselves in the city is how we travel. Besides from exploring the surroundings, you will get to learn to cook like a local, with a traditional Tajine cooking class and make your own natural beauty products based on aloe vera and Argan oil from the Kasbah’s garden.

Community lifestyle

One of the most important things of this trip will be about the shared moment with others. Whether you share a meal, a drink or a sunset make sure to enjoy those valuable moments of gathering that makes every trip so special.

If you’re feeling extra

  • you can book a massage, extra of charge, just ask the organizer!
  • if you have specific shopping inquiries during your stay, we can organize extra shopping tours. If you want to get inspired, have a look Garance Doré’s shopping recommendation in Morocco here.

Where?

The first night in Marrakesh, you will be staying at an authentic Riad. An experience that is not to be missed, known for their colorful interiors, their service and their size, in the midst of the city.

The Riad in Marrakesh

The next day, you will be heading to Talamanzou to an eco and self-sufficient authentic Kasbah. This property is fully sustainable, uses the vegetables from the garden, the plants to create their own soap and each room is provided with water from the well. 🍒 on top, there is a pool and hammam for the extra chill moment. Pretty cool right?!

How we give back

Wherever we go during our Travelogue Retreats we want to take a moment to give back to the people, or the environment that is welcoming us during our journey. We want to commit ourselves to a more conscious way of traveling and be aware of the impact we can have even with little actions. For this trip, the owners of the eco-Kasbah we are staying at, are engaged to employing people from the neighboring village to work on the property.
