Reading of inconvenience allowed to ferment into struggle is an exercise in compassion. Resentment, anger, disgust for privileged "struggles" only compound the problem across many circumstances.

"High-stress, emergency situations" are relative. In the bigger picture, frontline workers delivering the groceries - not those ordering them - are under high stress. Emergency situations are in the emergency wards without enough PPE and/or ventilators, capacity, nurses.

We are in wartime. 200,000 Americans have died.

Millions more are dying in unquantified ways.

Reality checks can also absolve self-generated stress and perceived "ambiguous loss" through purpose and gratitude and action to give, support, acknowledge. There are two very different experiences and worlds of the pandemic in the "developed" world: those who can afford self-care, safety, separation and those who provide it.

Those who can afford to add to their resilience bank account and those who have always been overdrawn and somehow survived.
