More and more companies are seeing the value and importance of data across their business. However, most are still using outdated tools to try to communicate that data and move their organisation forward: specifically, spreadsheets.

Traveltech for Scotland teamed up with the team at Torch from The Data Lab on Thursday 25 February to explore why spreadsheets are bad for business and what businesses can do to manage their data more effectively.

Joshua Ryan-Saha of Traveltech for Scotland talked about how important managing data is for travel and tourism businesses, acknowledging the challenges involved, particularly when there are limited human resources and time.

Rhona MacLennan of Torch then talked us through how the Torch Service works, outlining some examples of how businesses might use it and how the team can help. We looked at common challenges around managing data, solutions including cloud-based alternatives, and more. There were plenty of questions in our Q&A and some diverse examples of business needs which posed interesting questions for the Torch team.

We welcomed over 40 attendees, across a wide range of business sectors. Thank you to all who attended, and a big thank you to the team at Torch.
