Great to have Daniel join us at Travel Tech Con 2018 as one of the judges at the Pitch Competition on June 7th!

David, what in your opinion drives innovation and leaps forward in travel industry today and how is it different from say 10 years ago?

In corporate travel: individual preferences, loyalty, and work-life balance now need to be taken into account when considering how to manage traveling for work. The “One Size Fits All” model for travel policies has become outdated and data can now be used to allow for more travel flexibility and employee freedom.

What do startups building next generation travel tech products need to understand about the industry evolution and future opportunities?

You can’t create one solution that solves everything, know who your customers are and what problem your team aims to address. Those aiming to disrupt the industry need to understand the travel’s legacy technologies before they can innovate on top of it. There’s deep complexity behind the way things are.

What are some of your favorite travel tech products, projects or innovation initiatives that the industry should be paying attention to?

Windingtree as a disruptor of the GDS

Momentum towards open booking

Tools like Freebird that allow travelers the flexibility to make realtime decisions without paying heavily for it

All TTC18 pass holders are eligible to attend the pitch competition — join the community and the panel of judges to learn what travel startups are up to on June 7th! Here’s how to get the most out of your TTC18 experience.
