The minute you step off the ferry onto this island you know this is not the Southern California you left behind on the mainland. The sights and sounds, the feel of the narrow hilly streets and charming buildings are distinctly European.

I know you aren’t stepping off of ANY ferry into a vacation destination right now

But it doesn’t hurt to dream a little, right? The chamber of commerce on Catalina Island is working harder than ever to bring you a tiny taste of the charm and history to help those dreams along. I visited with Jim Luttjohann, President and CEO of the chamber about what that means.

From cocktail recipes to eagle cams, the chamber site is designed to help those of you who have been there to recapture a piece of the joy. Here’s part of my interview with him to get you started.
