It’s Official!
In June, I found out that I would be going to Singapore on a work rotation for 6 months and was super ecstatic! The ETA of my leaving date was mid August, but as I am writing this post on August 31 from Boston, that obviously didn’t happen. No worries though, because after a series of unexpected delays (like visa stuff, me moving apartments within Boston, flight and housing coordination, etc) my flights are finally booked!! A Grimaldi is officially on her way to grace the Eastern Hemisphere with her presence on Sept 3rd, 2018.
I’ve traveled before (for vacation and school), but I’ve never kept a journal / blog about my adventures. Since I have a terrible memory, I thought now would be a good time to try it out, especially since I’ll be ~12 hours away from the east coast. This way I can kill two birds with one stone and 1) keep a nice log of everything I’ve done and 2) update my mom on my life without having to call her every 2 days (hi mom!) .
I’m honestly terrible at keeping things up, so I have zero idea how good I’ll be at actually updating this, but I’m going to try.
To give you an example of how bad I am at blogging: after starting a draft yesterday, I finalized it today and published it. I even posted on Instagram today so that I could link a #freshpic in here. Woo!! Then I realized that I accidentally posted it to the wrong place, so I needed to duplicate the blog and post it to the right one. After doing that, I was like okay sweet, time to go delete the blog I posted in the wrong place. I did that, and then idiot me was like hm… what’s this other draft? I think this is still in the wrong place and definitely a different one than what I just created. So I deleted the blog, and then went to the other tab where I had the new blog open, only to have a pop up say “this blog has been deleted.” Of course I had also just copied something else, so I didn’t have anything that I wrote saved. :)
So TL;DR: this is my 2nd attempt at writing this post and I’m completely winging it.
^ This is the kind of content you’re here for, right? You can expect this type of gripping storytelling and intrigue for the next 6 months.
But seriously, what can you expect to see? Well, I’ll write about my amazing experiences outside of work, like traveling to new countries, experiencing new culture and history (!!!!), trying new foods (or not), complaining how hot it is in the middle of wintertime during the northeast, etc. I also may use this as a cathartic venting for myself on more personal things, like figuring out my plans for grad school (eek), studying for the GMAT (yikes!), struggles of living in a new country, etc.
Honestly, your guess is as good as mine. I will probably be super active for 1 month, forget about this for 4 months, then in the last month think about all of the cool thinks I could have written about and done with this. Even if I don’t keep up this blog, you can follow me on instragram at aligrimaldi. I’ll be posting a lot of pictures on there about my trip!
Well, until next time.Air Goodman, comin’ at ya!
P.S. Don’t think I forgot about my Nana. Hi, Nana! Have you figured out how to work this?
Here’s a lovely picture of Boston I took the other day. I’ll miss taking pictures of you :’(
