I am passionate about empowring nomadic entrepreneurs and freelancers who travel the world and work online. Because digital nomads can be the missionaries of global citizenship and the embodiment of a borderless minded world.

In 2017, we ran a campaign in TravTribe to research the state of mind of nomadic travelers, who we called TravTribers. We asked TravTribers: “why do you travel?”

“Traveling makes me humble and shows how little I need for living a truly happy life. It makes me appreciate simple things in life, like a warm bed or a cup of coffee in the morning with a nice company. In everyday life, following our routines, we tend to do things automatically, we tend to follow and do things we don’t really need.”

“Travel is the best way to learn and the feeling of “accomplishment”; that you were able to buy that bus ticket in a language you don’t speak, or how you found a new meal that you absolutely love and never thought to try. Once I caught the travel bug, it’s amazing how much quicker I could save when I have a new destination in mind. I have now set myself the goal to travel to a new country every year for the rest of my life! I’m way ahead of myself already with 30 countries at the age of 23, but that won’t slow me down.”

“Travel is one of the ways to color my life’s story book. It makes me more mindful of my life. I like to play and try new things to learn about different cultures and people. ”

“I travel full-time because my adventurous restless soul was never meant for a 9–5 job. I travel because my wild spirit can’t live according to the “norm”. Somehow, I was never meant to waste away my life in an office. I always wanted more in life. And this was never material things. Material things just trap me and take away the freedom. What I want is experiences and to be mesmerized by the magic of the world; to get the feeling that I only get when I’m on a top of a mountain or when I’m diving deep into the ocean or when I hear the jungle wake up or when I’m meet new people. When I give in to my adventurous, restless soul, I feel like myself again. I start to feel alive.”

“I travel because life is too short and there are too many good places out there. I won’t stop traveling till I am old and say: I have seen everything I wanted. AND lived in the most beautiful places I always dreamed of.”⠀

“I travel because I can see the beauty and handiwork of God in all of creation. From the cobblestone streets of Madrid to the high rises of Hong Kong, from the crystal waters of the Philippines to the canyons of the US; all of creation. It is a reminder this world is bigger than just ourselves and that we play a part in a much larger story. Are we going to stay on the same page; or are we going to tell a part in many stories? This is the question I often ask myself. And this is the reason why I always end up searching for an unexplored elsewhere. This life, this world, the people in it, it all speaks to the wonder of God.”

“I travel to discover thousands of Lanas[herself] in each pair of the eyes I look at and learn to accept and love them! I travel to push my boundaries and my limits, break my patterns and doubts, find myself and lose it again on the next trip I take. I travel to dissolve fears, bewitch myself by the beauty of the Planet Earth, feel the jubilation of love and oneness with humankind. I travel because I dare to live a full and vibrant life NOW not tomorrow or at a more convenient time!” ⠀

“I had no idea that I didn’t truly know my own self, until I stepped onto that one-way plane to Australia and was forced to spend so much time in my own company. Travel allows me to be completely free whilst at the same time it challenges me. It teaches me to be the best version of myself as I learn more about culture and humanity. Travel allows me to fall in love every single day — with food, with places, with people, with animals — with life. Travel opens my eyes, opens my mind, opens my heart.”⠀

“By experiencing the many ways of the world I gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for my own blessings. By going out on my own into the unknown I learn to know my true self and how to connect more deeply with others. Know that you will never take your money, your clothes, your cars, or your jewels from this life, only your experiences and your love and your light.”⠀

“I have visited 40 countries and yet the more I travel the more I realize how little I know and how much there is to learn. I love to travel because it shows me that everyone has a story. With every story that I hear, the stronger I believe that we are not as different as we think. Traveling shows me there is infinitely more kindness and hope in the world than hatred. I travel because life is short and the world is so brilliantly big and you don’t truly realize that until you are standing in the desert in New Mexico under a million stars or staring face to face with a sea turtle 20 meters underwater in Belize.”

“Travel widens my horizons, it makes me stronger, it shows me that a single girl mustn’t be afraid of anything. Especially not afraid of fighting for her dreams. It’s been 2 years already since I decided to leave everything I had, and it’s a brand new me now and I like this new me a lot.”

— Sophie Gdula, TravTriber

“I travel because i learn how to live in peace with the best company in the world and the only one i have: MINE.”⠀
