Let’s face the reality — when you enter the supermarket to buy new shampoo, cleaning supplies, or other everyday product, taking care of the environment may not be THE deciding factor in shopping. True? But still, each one of us has the responsibility to protect our nature. It doesn’t have to be as hard as it sounds. Here’s a list of 5 products that we can easily incorporate into our daily lives to make it more sustainable:

Use beeswax wraps to store your food

Beeswax wraps are the natural alternative to plastic or aluminum wraps for food storage. The product is washable, reusable, and compostable, as well as mouldable and tacky. It can easily be shaped around containers and fresh food products. Just make sure that your beeswax wrap is made of organic cotton.

Replace disposable products with reusable alternatives

Millions of plastic bottles are used worldwide, most of which end up in a landfill. Only about 20% of the plastic bottles are properly recycled and so they make up a large proportion of plastic waste that ends up in the oceans, forming city-sized islands. Even if plastic bottles are recyclable, they’re useless. It couldn’t be easier to avoid this needless pollution. All you have to do is use reusable bottles instead. Try out bottles made of glass, stainless steel or aluminum. Not only are they reusable, but they even look better! And the same applies to reusable coffee cups.

Cloth and cotton mesh bags for your sustainable daily use

To make it easy: When it comes to shopping bags, just stop using one-time bags. Get used to carrying a cotton mesh or cloth bag with you. If it comes to style, you will always look better with cool cloth bags — which by the way you can design on your own — than with plastic bags.

Reusable straws made of metal, glass, and bamboo

More and more companies such as Starbucks and American Airlines have begun to ban the use of plastic straws. To be honest, straws are mostly unnecessary. But if you really need one, there a great alternatives. You can easily enjoy a beach cocktail, an iced latte or any soda drink by using reusable straws made of metal, glass or bamboo. What difference does it make to you? Will your drink taste any different? Most doubtful.

Reduce packaging waste by using unpacked products

Anyone who decides to minimize their packaging waste will quickly realize that not only the kitchen is full of unnecessary packaging. Cosmetic products can be bought solid or refilled in glass bottles. This will eliminate any use of plastic packaging. Just give it a try and use shampoo or soap bars instead of the usual liquid products. They’re both environmentally friendly and usually don’t include chemicals.

As you can see, everybody can easily make a difference. Just give it a try — for nature’s sake!
