Chapter #1 — Desperate Times
The story starts in Georgia, our home country, the place where our team was formed. And if you are scratching your head right now, thinking where exactly on the map the country of Georgia is, we’re going to pinpoint it for you: It’s a beautiful land situated in South Caucasus. Our neighbours are Turkey, Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Although, it occupies a tiny spot on our planet, the awareness towards the ongoing and potential hardships faced by Earth is as relevant here as anywhere else in the world.
That’s why we’ve decided to focus our efforts on environmental problems — The issues which are actively discussed by everyone but taken action upon by very few.
In 2016 we launched Treepex. A social good startup which aims to restore national forests in Borjomi region (Georgia), affected by the war and by massive wildfires in the area later on. With an innovative technology we’ve created for Treepex we motivate people to get actively involved in the problem solving. We’ve introduced an easy-to-use platform where users sponsor the tree-planting process. Each tree is tagged with an NFC microchip to identify the exact location of each plant. Owners receive a regular photo updates and can track the entire process.
The results speak for themselves, nearly 60 000 trees are being planted currently and the number is increasing every day.
Chapter #2 — Desperate Times Require Desperate Measures
There can never be too many trees.
We’ve realized that there is an enormous amount of forests that need saving outside of our country as well adding up to the fact that there are t many people willing to participate in making a difference. So, we’ve moved our headquarters to New York City. We’ve found new partners, such as International Tree Foundation (ITF), American Forestry Foundation and One Tree Planted, which eventually contributed to reforestation process globally.
The only problem at hand was the issue of reaching more people considering the low credibility level of environmental issue discussions. That’s when our friends at WINDFOR’S communication offered a solution — what if it’s already too late? What if we are already in a need of specific technology to substitute trees in order to have fresh air in our lungs? So, Treepex Device was born — a full scale mockup of a pseudo-futuristic device which can save the planet.
The product blew up the Internet. Twitter, Facebook and Reddit were full of questions — How does it work? Where and when can we buy it? Can we get it in our country? Does the offer include delivery? Apart from some criticism, stating that we should take care of our planet instead, the invention has been well accepted and highly praised by the general community, with heaps of people hurrying to get the subscription.
The reveal was simple (our favorite part by far ): “We don’t need an electronic device to create the fresh air! We need trees, we need forests — natural “mechanisms” which transform CO2 into oxygen. That’s what Treepex really stands for.” This message was sent to all the subscribers around the world.
The campaign got us on screens of main TV channels, pages of media giants VoA, NewScientist, VICE, New Scientist (links) and even on the cover of Forbs.
“It’s a happy ending” you would think…
On the contrary . We are just warming up.
Chapter #3 — Desperate Measures + Humour
Next step was to unite and give louder voice to the GREEN COMMUNITY. Maybe it sounds really naive…We do realize that it might. . But the GREEN COMMUNITY is at war — fighting against ignorance and scepticism with its own bare hands, while our opponents have it all: power, media and most importantly, MONEY. In order to fight in equal conditions, each party needs a weapon and so does the GREEN COMMUNITY. That’s why we’ve created OXYN FOUNDATION and OXYN — a weapon, a platform, a blockchain ecosystem driven by environmental incentives. Most importantly, OXYN is not just another cryptocurrency. In order to generate and receive OXYN coins, you as a GREEN FIGHTER should feel the obligation to contribute to actual projects which aim to make a difference.
And here we are… with our first campaign powered by OXYN and Treepex — Treespond. A campaign, eliminating ignorant quotes delivered by politicians about environmental issues, by planting trees in Sierra, Nevada Region and Sierra National Forest recently affected by the wildfire.
We know, the most efficient tool to defeat environmental problems is always the real action… and sometimes humour.
