This future is ours.

I sent this note around to our team before a clear winner had been determined. Our team is full of women, immigrants, nationalities, and ethnicities. We are scientists, artists and visionaries. We all see the world in our own way, and we want to encourage others to continue to do the same.

As the new day has come, we’ve decided to share this message with you also.

12:40am. November 9th.

The outcome right now is looking unknown. Nobody could have predicted this. But. We are not the outcome and we are not defined by a vote.

We will get up tomorrow and push forward harder than we ever had before — pushing for TreePress, pushing for others and pushing for ourselves. Because at the end of the day. We are all still here.

The lake is still in front of us. The water is still calm. And we are still real individuals, with unique opinions.

Politicians, although we call them our elective leaders, are actually our elective followers. When we change our minds, it influences them into action. And we are creating a future, in our own way, together. And that doesn’t change because of who gets elected.

TreePress is actually not about scripts. It’s about standing for an equal, democratised future that enables people to tell their most powerful stories.

For us to amplify the unheard. For us to empower the undiscovered. And for us to enable one of the most powerful storytelling tools — the scripts that shape our stages, entertain us from our couches, and light up the silver screen — to change the future.

We’re building a community of people who will change the world. The people who started in Greece 2,000 years ago — who captured conversation and knitted it into storytelling to influence the future. The people who came in droves, not just to be entertained but to look deeply into the successes, failures and issues of their time, through the everlasting words of the Bard. The people who have translated some of the complexity of history and richness of the future through shows like Hamilton. And even more.

These stories, like ours, continue.

Because these are the stories that are bigger than a campaign or Facebook ad buy — these are the stories that every single person has access to in their homes and lives, through television, internet, and radio waves.

These are the stories we tell.

These scripts are the words that capture what it is to be human in relation to another. And these are the visions of our future, the reflections of our past and the way we process, unpack, digest — and, for some, even celebrate — what is happening today.

Whilst no single script can speak to everyone, every story can speak to someone.

So pick up your pens. Start writing. Step on a stage. Capture a moment. Create a legacy. Shape a movement. Start capturing these stories, these moments and these futures. Walk alongside others — particularly those we may not understand — and store the future nostalgia that is happening right now. So we can play our part in its collective future. Now, more than ever, is the time for art. It is time for the stories that matter.

This is TreePress. We do not sell stories. We do not build software. We stand for something bigger. We stand for humanity. We are a community of people who, together, can change the world.

And that’s why we will get up everyday, even when we don’t want to, and work harder to contribute to this future.

This future is ours.
