Kumara parvatha (pushpagiri peak) nestled in the pushpagiri wildlife sanctuary one of the toughest treks of Karnataka and does live up its expectations.

The trek passes through beautiful and thick forests of Pushapagiri wildlife sanctuary which houses exquisite flora and fauna.

The peak is at a height of 1712 metres, the 6th highest peak of Karnataka. It can be trekked from both Kukke Subramanyam which houses the famous Kukke temple and Somwarpet.

The trek is around 13 kms one way from Kukke town (Start point).

  1. The forest trail is beautiful, around 5 kms in length till Bhatre mane. You can see our happy faces.

After emerging from the forest you will find a view point on the left we got to take another picture of ourselves.

Below is a picture of bhatre mane taken from the internet, you will get a good meal here and very yummy Butter milk.

The forest office is around 200 metres from Bhatre mane where you need to take permission for the trek. The entry fee is Rs. 200 per person, infront of the office you will also find ample space to camp.

We camped and cooked some yummy maggie.

Note: Please remove all the trace of fire after you are done camping.

happy face(s) while cooking :P

Below is the first view point around 300 metres from Bhatre mane

Good place to take some pics ;)

The real trek starts from here passing through picturesque grasslands and amazing terrain.

You will find the last water point at around 3 kms from the forest office near Kallu mantapa (A rock structure)

Kallu mantapa

From Kallu mantapa you start a steep ascend towards Shesha Parvatha which has the best view in the trek (believe me)

View from shesha parvatha

From Shesha parvatha you will descend into the last forest part before reaching KP and a rock patch that will be very slippery and to be avoided most monsoons.

The rock patch

Finally finishing off the 8kms of trek from Bhatre mane seems fulfilling and fantastic with like minded people.

Because Trekking isn’t about seriousness, but about fun, adventure and meeting new people.

Glad to have met interesting people along the way, one foot at a time.
