Snapchat to Allow Users to Pay to Replay Snaps, WTF!

This is not a joke. This is real life. First of all, let’s address the idea that since its conception, the promise of Snapchat has been to send a snap,or a picture for the uninitiated, to a friend that they can then only view for a limited time. However, if these friends are sociopaths, they have the ability to save a snap via screenshotting the picture while it is up.

Now, the unwritten rule most Snapchat users follow is, “DO NOT SCREENSHOT SNAPS!” This rule is not always followed obviously, and the people who run the Snapchat page in the Apple Store even go as far as to mention this in the description of their app.

With all this in mind the brilliant minds over at Snapchat Inc. have decided to allow users to pay $1 to replay snaps up to three times. This new model of replay goes against everything snapchat was made for. The people at the Snapchat HQ are already sitting on massive piles of cash since the Snapchat brand is already valued at around $10 billion, but did someone say MORE money? This new concept for Snapchat makes any snap subject to replay bait. Shout out to those snappers that enjoy sending their naughty bits over Snapchat. Now those snaps could be paid for porn!

Can this cash grab be anymore out of place when people already know how to screenshot? I can foreshadow some anarchists will just screenshot all the snaps they get to spite the $1 charge to replay snaps. I can also foresee many people just continuing to screenshot, like they already do ignoring this new feature altogether. Unfortunately, there is no real reason to make this a thing other than for the money, and this makes the whole company look tarnished as a result. The most puzzling thing about this has to be that no one even asked for this feature to exist.

Whatever the case we all have to live in the reality that someone has a legitimate option of spending money to replay a snap that was once promised to be deleted forever. #WTF
