Fashion repeats itself every few years and it’s just amazing to see how Karishma’s outfits from the nineties fall right in line with the trends today! Karishma Kapoor was a fashion icon in Bollywood during 90s, who had girls following her religiously for all up-to-date fashion statements. From slip dresses to dungarees, from velvet to metallic, chokers or tassels, she did it all. Karishma Kapoor and her style through the 90’s was a rage.

I have always been in love with 90s Bollywood movies and why wouldn’t it be? With all quirky fashion styles and incredible songs Bollywood gave us to dance onto. I have compiled 9 trends which Lolo rocked in 90s, can also be easily pulled off now!

1. Velvet

Velvet was a much bigger trend in the nineties than it is now. From velvet dresses, to pants to sari blouses, Lolo rocked them all. I’d be lying if I say I didn’t like the slit velvet gown Karishma wore in ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai’ and her clean chic look with blue velvet dress in ‘Dulhan Hum Lejayenge’.

2. Metallic

People born in 90s know that metallic were ‘the thing’ at that time as much as it is today! Karishma knew how to work these bold pieces like a professional.

3. Oversized Shirts

Nineties were full of oversized shirts and mom jeans. Look at Karishma’s multicolored shirt that we would kill to own today!

4. Slip dress

Forever21 is flooded with slip dresses, so you know it’s the trend nowadays as much as it was in 90s. Moreover slip dresses and tees have suddenly taken the world by storm. Needless to say Lolo rocked it too in Judwaa! If you love 90s bollywood movies, you would know it well.

5. Coordinates

In the movie ‘Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge’, Karishma wore a ton of coordinates that we would proudly wear even today. A patchwork crop top, matching teeny tiny skirt and knee high boots, this look is so timelessly chic that it can be worn in any era. Also, the mesh detailing on the skirt (right) is everything!

6. Pastels

Karishma Kapoor brought pastel dresses to the fashion scene in a big way. Don’t tell us you don’t want that sweet lavender dress this summer?

7. Dungaree-

Frankly, nobody could have pulled off this unconventional dungaree better than Lolo! Look at that sassy black and white number totally stole the show. Not to forget the sporty look she pulled off in ‘Dil toh Pagal hai’.

The outfit Lolo wore in ‘Haseena Maan Jayegi’ was like a perfect Britney Spears outfit! Comfortable athleisure with no-fuss pigtails. Of course Kapoor made it look fashionable and quirky with Cargos too. But the trend of today replaced cargos with joggers, and we are loving it. You can easily sport this look with just some joggers, a sports bra, a sweatshirt and some tiny hair clips! This look is so cute, we might just sign up to working out only to sport it.

9. Crop tops-

One style which had been in fashion since a long time, which has become timeless now, are ‘crop-tops’. Crop tops with high waist skirts and knee high boots, wear it now, and we are sure a street style photographer will tally you.
