Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny was supposed to be a triumphant farewell for Harrison Ford’s iconic adventurer, but instead, it turned out to be a colossal failure. The fifth installment in the beloved franchise has been a huge disappointment at the box office, earning only $248 million worldwide in its first two weekends, according to Forbes. This is far below the expectations for a film that cost $295 million to produce, making it the most expensive Indiana Jones movie ever made.

The film is likely to end up as the lowest-grossing film in the series, even without adjusting for inflation. It will struggle to surpass the $333 million earned by Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in 1984, let alone the $474 million of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in 1989 or the $790 million of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in 2008.
