No matter our profession or location, one magical word unites us all: #Development.

It is a continuous journey of learning and teaching, where we specialize in subjects, follow our passion for discovery, and aim to leave a positive impact on the world. In particular, I believe that the transition to blended learning methods is a process that supports different learning styles. At @Trendyol, I have had a remarkable experience as an #InternalTrainer, combining my love for learning from digital platforms and my passion for imparting knowledge with a wider audience.

Let’s explore the journey of becoming an Internal Trainer at Trendyol together.

  1. Review of Trainer Candidates

To ensure the effectiveness of our Internal Training Program, the Learning & Development team carefully reviews suitable team members who are willing to become internal trainers. Volunteers shared their expertise and experiences, explaining their motivation to take on this role. A workshop was held at the #Campusoffice with the volunteer internal trainer candidates. This stage allowed us to identify internal trainer candidates based on their knowledge, communication and presentation skills, and passion for training.

2. Train the Trainer:

The Internal Trainer Program provided comprehensive training to develop the team members’ skills and competence as trainers in the digital world. This program focused on essential aspects such as preparing training materials, delivering engaging presentations, and interacting effectively with the participants. The program covered the following key areas:

  • Digital Training Challenges: This training covered visual design principles, digital tools, digital classroom/webinar management and the world of video, sound, and light. Identifying and overcoming these challenges was critical for ensuring a seamless learning experience.
  • Tailoring Content to Learning Styles: To ensure our training sessions are impactful and engaging, we learnt to take into account the different learning styles of our participants, as proposed by Kolb’s theory. These learning styles include:

Activist: Prefers hands-on experiences and immediate practice.

Reflector: Enjoys contemplation, questioning, and learning from past experiences.

Theorist: Thrives on theory, logic, and systematic analysis.

Pragmatist: Focuses on practical, real-world experiences for motivated learning.

By recognizing and accommodating these different learning styles, we have learned to create balanced and inclusive training sessions that meet the unique needs of each participant. This approach ensures that each individual has the opportunity to absorb and retain information effectively, fostering a positive and enriching learning experience for all.

  • Creating Training Wallpapers: Designing a complete training outline on a working wall helped us to meticulously plan and develop all aspects of the training. This approach ensured that every detail was carefully thought out before commencing the actual training process as a trainer.
  • Storytelling: #Storytelling has become a powerful tool for internal trainers to emotionally connect with their audience, capture their attention, and leave a lasting impression. This session taught us how to become good storytellers.
  • Facilitation Skills: In this session the L&D team equipped internal trainers with facilitation skills, enabling them to effectively guide and engage participants, foster communication, handle conflicts, and manage time efficiently.

3. 1–1 Training Design Coaching: The training design process is initiated based on the areas of specialization on which the internal trainers can provide training, and the needs of the Trendyol teams. Throughout the process, the 1–1 Training design coach is available for support. In this way, the entire process, including the designed training, demo lectures and the first live training, is professionally standardized from start to finish by the L&D team.

And we are an Internal Trainer!

Armed with newfound knowledge and skills, our journey as internal trainers has begun, ready to share our expertise with fellow teammates at Trendyol. Our mission is to empower others with the knowledge we have gained in our respective fields, fostering a #culture of continuous learning and growth within the organization.

The fusion of digital learning and passionate teaching will allow us to empower each other, and create a positive impact within our organization. As Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world,” and at Trendyol, we believe in striving to be better every day, and strive for continuous progress. Together, we embrace the journey of continuous learning and strive to create a more inclusive future.
