It’s been a little over a month since we announced us pausing the release schedule of Trenta OS. We have made progress to get you the tools to continue testing Trenta OS features.
I want to begin by thanking everyone who donated via PayPal over the last month. It means so much to us to see that all of you still want Trenta OS. In order to continue development towards a new release, we are announcing that we are now offering testing positions among other donation classes on Patreon — https://www.patreon.com/trenta. You’ll be able to support us and get exclusive access to testing before anyone else along with other bonuses like wallpapers, posters, stickers and more.
Of course, we don’t want to just put everything behind a paywall, so we will release the guide on testing to the public by, our projected goal, the end of May as previously mentioned.
We have received many suggestions and questions over the last month. We want to address some of them here. We are aware of Ubuntu, which is used as Trenta OS’s base, switching to Gnome Shell for version 18.04. While we believe this is good news overall, it causes us to make adjustments as currently everything we build is designed for the Ubuntu Gnome distribution. We will handle it, but for now please stick to 16.04 for testing purposes. Project Joki has also been a hot topic. We have had a few contributors drop out and are working on gaining help as our time is limited as we focus on Trenta OS and Rainier UI. We look forward to continue providing an excellent desktop experience on Linux and releasing our ways to test the Trenta OS experience.
