Trenta OS? When is Trenta OS coming? How can I get on the list to test Trenta OS?
Despite the discontinuation of Trenta OS, we’ve continued to receive these messages. We’re also aware of rumors starting to float around. In this month’s update, we’ll answer all those questions.
Before we get to Trenta OS, we wanted to fill you in on what else we’ve been up to.

First, let’s talk about Trenta Icons. Trenta Icons has grown its library of icons. We’ve also improved compatibility between Ubuntu 18.04 and 20.04. A few icons have had their style updated to optimize file size and consistency. However, the biggest change will come Q1/Q2 2021 when we release Trenta Icons for macOS. Yes, you saw that right, Trenta Icons will support macOS Big Sur. As you may have seen, Apple has chosen to abandon their old round style of icons for a rounded rectangle look. We love options, so we thought “what the heck, why not?”. If you are interested in testing this release, keep an eye out on our social media accounts.

For those of you who have been waiting for Trenta Wallpapers, our first six wallpapers have been added to the Trenta.io site. We will be adding more over time and would love to know your feedback.

Now, something new–Trenta onDemand.

Screenshot of onDemand

onDemand is an easy gateway to watch and rent popular movies using platforms like YouTube and Amazon, depending on your preference. On launch, both USA and Germany will be supported and we will be looking for translators and maintainers for other countries. The intent of this app is to be preinstalled on Trenta OS but supports other platforms, including mobile.

If you’re interested in helping with onDemand, visit the project on Github.

Yes, Trenta OS is coming back in October.
It will be an Alpha version.
Yes, really. We have a disk image that we’ve been using.
There are bugs and we don’t recommend you use it as your daily OS, but we’d love to have you help us test it.

But, without further ado–This is Trenta OS 2020.

This is the first screenshot. We are so excited to squash a few more bugs before we release this. It is based on 18.04 LTS but we hope to make the move to 20.04 in the next year. This version will be limited to 100 testers. Before the release, we will release a form that applicants can fill out but we are planning on setting up a site for testers to download the latest versions and give feedback in a streamlined environment for all of our projects.

We are excited. We are excited for Trenta OS 2020. We are excited for your feedback. We are excited for the future. More to come.

Until next time,
The Trenta.io Team
