So, ring ring hello, helloes.

I have been meandering in writing - and so far, spent three and a half blank hours daydreaming about beaches, and what to eat and make, to take and be like, maybe that bag is too big?

Maybe a baguette, a hummus, two tubs. A six-pack of cider, and maybe a new wine that is orange and neurally excitingly fizzy — they had those in that store, that wasn’t organic. Maybe, some things that aren’t good with tea. And some things that are better off ice. Yes, so that left me with cold sandwiches — pre-sliced, and some non-eggy non-mayonnaise-based (you see where i’m going with the mess here), and very prep-forwarded (more at the back, less on site), so we can concentrate on goss, company, and not look for the ordering in/takeout menu.

So i decided — a real cheese board on a gingham red sheet made into a blanket is best. What to take them all in then?.. A tiny purse, is not ideal. A clutch bag, leather weathered? Not ideal. A computer sleeve or bag? Probably not for that.

Where do i stash food in? Oh i have a grocery bag. Those raffia ones they sell you for $5 at the LittleFarms counter, where i went last weekend to peruse some produce. (Or was that on Monday?) I think i can do with those — stash all the picnic ware, and all the cutlery, reams of paper, green recyclable waste bags, and washable cloth napkins. In all its folded 4 x 4 glory.

A picnic basket, is ideal.

(Could be the right answer here…. if i had one handy. Those ones i saw in someone’s cupboard once upon a time, or that place where i had a cupboard with loads of things to choose from).

So, it’s settled.

A picnic.. is best, all in that gingham’s better with a kitchen-sink-roomy structured basket.

See you on the sunny side, get groomed — shorn, prepped, gelled, slicked back, and don’t you dare forget the citronella bug spray, guvner,

Me.
