Happy February, The 2nd.

This is a wall installation from 2014, taken at the Taksu Gallery during ArtWeek.

Although it isn’t really a thing, there are a lot of things to celebrate in the second month, of the 22nd year of the third millenia.

Deuxieme 2°e, segundo, the second, jr, II.

These are terms that let someone know that it’s been counted as something or rather, as something after that (probably) of the first.

Anyway, the digress from writing in heat, is always because of the last-ditch writing or printing, or designing. And crucially, it is not less valued or less important, as it is mathematically ordered, as it just happens to come second.

So the second pass of the process of publishing, to which the first is writing, is mostly the editing.

What my editor / creative director used to tell me – as a well-worn classically all-time design publishing house or agency process, is “Write in heat, edit with a bottle of wine.” Oh wait, that was just me. I think it was …Write in heat, edit with a red pen…..? Write in heat, edit with a big bowl of cold soup.

Yes i think that was it.

Ridiculousness aside, the second is an important mark in this calendar as superstitious might be acquainted with, as much with their digital numerology apps are keen, that 2.2.22 is a lucky day.

Today, you should not waste your luck, by:

  • Getting that haircut
  • Getting a tattoo – that you’ve thought out well, as something you’d like to keep for ages to come
  • Making that apology letter
  • And maybe, turning in your bets to the dogemongers (coined by me, there’s no such thing as someone selling doge coins but there’s a cryptocurrency exchange or wallet in an app for that)…
  • Cleaning your tax records, (or making one)
  • Finding your dress (for occasions that are in your calendar) at net-a-porter,
  • Fixing the stringing in your grandma’s worn pearls, or repurpose to a bracelet or two, or give it a proper polish,
  • Getting a new pair of shoes.
  • Proposing that new system to the boss, in a letter or white paper.

Marking it with any idea of remembering it, is the idea.

(I personally had taken a roundabout literal bus ride to fetch a tiny glass of water, perspective and pump up the old blood to a heat of writing – & hopefully not, compromise the view to kilojoule a vaporisation.)

I still feel like it was being challenged, has now turned on its head, with more solutions presented with what problems used to just be a nuisance is an incent to make more mining possible (posting in the blockchain) and the ether. The magic now happens more in the exchange valuations than at the parity chop shops.

February is a good month, it is a good end to the January holiday merry, which is always a real congested month for me – with the quadruple pronated celebrations, now reduced to just the two.

The FIRST of February sees to the Lunar new year as it exits the Year of the Ox, our prosperity economy (and love lives), turn over to the Year of the Tiger.

All tales or fables of this passing are now, bit minimised in the background of the looming stronghold of adequacy of facing the real strive for normalcy in the post-pandemic lull, just as i could imagine how it was for post-war economies in the slumps and sloughs.

In Asia, it is about self-care, and realising that a veritable slowdown is not a signalling of a downturn, but a hinting to breaching steady growth & acceleration, to the 2023: and propriety is now mustered under the muttered dissolution of (instead) our collective sustainable development goals.

All sails are pointed towards this.

And whether we become familiarised, aligned or have naturally drowned out the incumbents of doubt in the long run, we need to feedback our compliance, one way or another.

Perhaps, “i second that” might do it.
