Young KP, Fata’s journalists among the ‘Agahi Awards 2017’ winners

Two Tribal Post reporters and two other young journalists hailing from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) were recognised for their outstanding journalistic work and given the Agahi Awards 2017.

Islam Gul Afridi of Khyber Agency received the award in ‘agriculture’ category, Rehan Muhammad of Kurram Agency in ‘conflict’, Sanna Ejaz from Peshawar in ‘health’ while Abdul Salam Afridi of Darra Adam Khel received two awards in the categories of ‘education and vocational & technical training’ categories at an annual ceremony held in Islamabad on Saturday.

Top national and international journalists, leading opinion-makers and other professionals were part of the judges’ panel to evaluate the entries.

Islam Gul Afridi who bagged the ‘Journalist of the Year’ for his story on Saffron replaced Hashish in the terrorism hit Khyber Agency, later on, published on the Waziristan Times and Akhbar-e-Khyber daily.

Rehan Muhammad won ‘Journalist of the Year’ award in conflict for the exclusive story on ‘landmines victims in Fata‘ for the Tribal Post.
