Although CES 2021 was virtual, we still caught a glimmer of hope as industry leaders, new faces, and up-and-comers unveiled the tech that will undoubtedly set the standard for our industry in the coming years. With more time than ever being spent at home, it’s not surprising that tech to improve our home life is taking centre stage at this year’s event. We were skeptical of the virtual conference — we’re all new to the navigation of this new reality, but as one of the most incredible tech conferences worldwide, CES still delivered. Companies were able to showcase what we can hope to see on “shelves” in the near future. As we do every year, here’s our Top 5 Tech from CES 2021:

LG Rollable Phone

LG gave us a sneak peek into their upcoming product: the LG Rollable Phone. With most aspects of our life moving online due to COVID-19, it seems fitting to have an all- in- one product to meet everyone’s needs throughout their day. You could go from answering work calls during the day to watching your favourite show at night on a larger screen, all on one product. This product features a single display that looks like a standard smartphone at first glance… drumroll, please. The screen rolls out to give you a tablet-like experience! For now, we’re unsure of when we will see this product launch, so keep a look out.

PocketTalk S Voice Translator

For anyone planning to travel in a post-vaccine world or wanting to collaborate with people who speak different languages now through online resources, you will enjoy PocketTalk’s newest portable device! It translates 82 languages and shows the text on the screen as well as speaking aloud. The integrated camera translates any text it can see. Living in a currently predominantly remote world — being able to seamlessly connect with each other without a language barrier will open doors to connections worldwide.

Samsung Smart Trainer

Exercising is an outlet for so many people, but how about individuals that don’t enjoy working out in public places? Especially considering in many places currently — public training facilities are a no-go. This product is a whole new level of replicating the services included in an in-person training session to an online setting. The Samsung Smart Trainer lets you use your living room as a gym and your TV as your virtual coach. Sensors will track and analyze your posture in real-time, count reps, help you with your form, and coach you on how to get the best workout. You won’t be able to skip a couple of sets, so be ready for a sweaty workout! Start planning your fitness goals now since this product is expected to appear on the shelves later this year.

AirCozy Interactive Smart Pillow

Last year we saw a burst of new sleep tech for not just tracking your sleep but also improving it. But maybe we need to focus on our pillows to improve our sleep. The AirCozy Interactive Smart Pillow can track your movement to adjust the pillow’s height and can play “white noise” or music to help you fall asleep.

Razer Project Hazel Smart Mask

Masks have become an essential part of our lives. Most obvious statement ever? That being said, I feel like I have a million masks for different types of outings. Once you find out about this Razer Project Hazel Smart Mask, I’m not sure you’ll be able to go back to the five-for-one corner shop mask packs. It can be so difficult to communicate while wearing masks, especially if you live with audio, visual, or communication accessibility considerations where a mask hinders your daily communication with others. Individuals — especially in the service industry — will appreciate that the Razer’s Project Hazel is equipped with “Razer Voiceamp” tech that listens to your voice and then “intelligently reproduces it” through a set of speakers. Another notable feature of this mask is it has a silicone seal on the top to prevent that annoying “fogging” effect that anyone who wears glasses will relate to.
