Tribes Integrates with Coinbase Wallet to Enable Simple, Secure Sign-In
Ever since the launch of the Tribes app on iOS and Android a few weeks ago, one of the top requests we have heard from our community has been wanting to sign in with their wallet apps, rather than their 12-word secret phrase. It makes sense.
So with that in mind, we’re excited to share that as of today, we’ve integrated with the most trusted name in crypto — Coinbase Wallet — to offer super simple and secure sign-in, so you can bring your entire Web3 identity to chats and token-gated groups, all while ensuring that your assets are safe thanks to Coinbase’s industry-leading security and encryption.
Your wallet isn’t just a list of assets and your balance. It’s fundamentally your Web3 self — your name tag, art collection, membership cards, and stake in the communities and causes you believe in.
We want the Tribes community to trust that they can bring their whole Web3 selves to the conversations happening here, which is what makes today’s update so meaningful. You can’t join the best token-gated chats if you can’t trust an app to see your best tokens.
Signing in with Coinbase Wallet
When you first open Tribes, you’ll see the new option to Connect with Coinbase Wallet (if you have the Coinbase Wallet app on your device).
Tap Connect with Coinbase Wallet to prove ownership of your wallet, and you’ll be whisked into Tribes. Once you’re in, as usual:
- You can choose to use any name in your wallet (e.g. .ETH, Lens, or Unstoppable Domains) as your Tribes name
- Your profile will show your names, memberships, and collectibles
- Your NFTs and Coins grant you access to post on members-only timelines
Coinbase Wallet holds and manages all keys and encryption. Tribes communicates directly with Coinbase’s API.
