Benson Park in Camelot Estates

About 75 residents from Camelot and Avalon Estates met at a park to discuss the recent lot rent increase.

“We the residents of Avalon and Camelot Estates have made the joint decision to respectfully challenge this untimely increase of our lot rent for 2021.”

Camelot and Avalon Estates are Manufactured Home Parks in North Mankato. Resident’s met at the shelter in Benson Park to challenge the proposed lot rent and sign petitions to increase transparency.

Petition to be submitted to the property managers.

“It is predominantly lower income families and we have a large population of those with disabilities, the elderly and college students.” — Camelot Estates resident.

One resident of Avalon Park tells me, “Despite the pandemic and no changes to the park (no street lamps, no sidewalks, nothing done for the residents), the park is deciding to raise our rent once again. They raised it last year around this time and they’re raising it again this year. It’s a 6% increase, from $383 to $407. Although this might not seem like a lot of money for someone, I know a lot of people in the park, myself included, this is money most of us don’t have. A lot of us are paycheck-to-paycheck, especially now with COVID-19.”

2021 is NOT the time to increase lot rent!

Residents are asking for the support of their local communities as well as government officials to protect the wellbeing of homeowners in these parks.
