“Be okay to draw and let people see it”

This exhibition strengthens the idea that it’s okay to just draw, to have minimal color and to not be afraid of mark making. When we draw a simple like we are only in tune with the mark we are creating, we don’t have to think about perfection. As we get older, out vulnerability of showing how we draw is heightened, we hide our doodles from the public, change them through filters, or just stop doing them.

Dana Sikkila tells us about her exhibition at the 410 Project.

Both artists in this exhibition identify themselves as printmakers, a process in which what is drawn or cut goes through a method that alters the original lined, changing the drawing. But today is about being confident and standing behind how you create a line.

We think about how drawing can be captured through different materials, how we can draw with paper, string, and text.

This exhibition will be showing at the 410 Project until Jan 19th.
