Introducing our Design Language: Flat Dove

When we started our company three years ago, we wanted to create a technology company where design is in the forefront of everything else; that design becomes a pillar of what the company stands for. And we did. The problem is, we didn’t have a set standard of how we needed to design anything in regards to what the company was using: office supplies, templates, app UI. Nothing was consistent. And as for a company that pays attention to good design, this is embarrassing.

So for more than 6 months, Jesse, Jarrett, and I sat down and tirelessly figured out a standard: one that would stand for Triple J Studios for the next 10 years. We dubbed it “Project Dove”, and now, I am finally happy to present to you our design language: Flat Dove.

Flat Dove is, in my opinion, absolutely beautiful. Every detail has been considered and thought of in every template and rule that we decided. Even the logo has been heavily considered and refined.

Now, why a dove? Why not a bear or beaver or even a bird? Well, we chose the dove over all other animals because, in society, doves represent love, peace, and new beginnings. They have a unique sense of beauty, yet they are simplistic in nature. They tend not to bother, but they have a caring personality. Finally, their gentility and relaxed persona gives people a reason to hope and dream. This is why we chose the dove.

Now, while we’d love to tell you more about what the specific goals are, this sort of information that we have with this will be confidential for a while. What we can show, however, are a few examples of what Flat Dove will look like. You can look at them below.

Also, we are still not done with everything. But once we are happy with the final results, we will post up our icons for version 1 of the Design Language.

Furthermore, notice that I said “version 1”. We consider Flat Dove as a project (and a major one at that), so overtime, we will continue to refine and improve things, as well as add and remove objects when needed.

This is also a perfect time for us to tell you a bit about our transition period. For a period of two weeks, we will be changing everything. From overhauling designs to merging servers, we are fully cleaning, refreshing, and removing. No stone will be left unturned. More details will come overtime and we will announce when we will start our transition on our website and social media portals.

This has been our biggest project yet, and we can’t wait to show you the finished product!
