More than a decade ago when Steve Jobs introduced the very first iPhone to the world, he emphasised on three things, “A widescreen iPod with touch controls. A revolutionary mobile phone. And a breakthrough internet communications device. An iPod…a phone…and an internet communicator…An iPod, a phone…are you getting it? These are not three separate devices, this is one device, and we are calling it iPhone.”

It was revolutionary. It was new, innovative, and most important, it was exactly what the world needed — a single device being able to perform multiple functions. Apple called it “the ultimate digital device”.

This was a technological marvel and Apple’s biggest breakthrough. And that is why it was an obvious success.

Since then, the idea of a single platform performing multiple functions has been widely acknowledged.

In 2011, Tencent launched WeChat in China with a similar vision. The app was primarily for mobile texting and voice messaging, but it did not stop there. People in China did not require separate apps to make payments, book cabs, play games, find movie tickets, read news, etc. All this was possible using a single app. It was basically like a swiss-knife that had so many components that it became an integral part of people’s lives.

The reason for the success of iPhone and WeChat had essentially one thing in common — their platforms provided a wide range of functionalities integrated into a single space, with superior and seamless experience for the user.

The travel industry is in dire need of this idea. Although, the internet has made accessing information elementary, the platform is extremely vast and rudimentary. The information is available on our fingertips and yet it is highly scattered.

With the rapid change in technology, the needs of the modern-day traveller is changing as well. Just like everything else, they want a better, faster, and simpler solution to all their travel requirements.

The lack of coherence has made the whole process of planning a travel difficult and tiring. Having to browse through multiple platforms for information is a real struggle.

Let’s take a closer look at this complication.

1) Planning the travel

Planning a travel is a threefold process — 1) choosing a destination, 2) gathering information and making things-to-do-list for the destination, and 3) making hotel and flight reservations. But accomplishing upon this process is an actual nightmare.

For every fold, the information is dispersed among platforms and blogs which makes the whole process slow and frustrating.

For instance, you use TripIt for making travel itinerary but for reviews and recommendations, you browse through TripAdvisor, and to make the bookings you probably flicker through a bunch other websites so as to avail the best possible deal

And the result of all this — too many websites, too many tabs, too much exasperation.

2) On the destination

Finding transportation, restaurants, ATMs etc, and navigating through a foreign city is another issue you face once you have reached the destination. And for every single requirement you have to bear the frustration of switching to a different platform.

To navigate the route from A to B you use Google Maps and to reach from A to B you do a web search for local transport. And if that’s not available you switch to Uber or whatever is locally available.

All this is neither seamless nor user-friendly.

And it is this problem that Tripock has tried to solve. Our aim is to be the WeChat of the travel industry and provide a platform that you never have to switch from regardless of your travel requirements.

Whether it is booking flights or cabs, finding hotels or restaurants, looking for an adventurous experience or merely the nearest subway, everything can be easily done through Tripock.

This is a far-reaching approach and an important one. With the vision of ‘a single platform for all travel needs’, Tripock aspires to bring about a radical change in the way people plan and experience their travel.

Tripock is a platform for the global travel community to discover and influence fellow adventure seekers. Our motto is to provide a platform where travellers from all around the world can join in to share their travel experience and help make travelling hassle free and exciting for others.
