Gokarna, a land of hidden and silent beaches, is a small town situated approx 150 Km from Hubli, in Karnataka. It has quite a number of very beautiful, clean and comparatively less crowded beaches. It is approx 150 Km south from Goa and being at the western coast of India it gives a pretty delightful sunset view from beaches. In Gokarna beach trek is a great activity, there is a reason for calling it beach trek, not a beach walk. Beaches of Gokarna are separated by small green hills, people cross these hills and go from one beach to other, that’s Gokarna beach trek. This trek is filled with breathtaking views, beautiful rocks, narrow trails and continuous music of sea waves. Here is the list of beaches one must visit in Gokarna:

Paradise Beach, Gokarna: This place literally maintains the dignity of its name. Paradise beach is one of the best beaches in Gokarna. To reach here you have to tack a bit through some narrow trails covered with trees and bushes. It took us around 20 minutes to reach there from taxi drop point. It is advisable that you guys should carry water bottles and snacks with you as there is nothing available on the beach and food and water should not be the reason to come back from this amazing beach.

Paradise Beach, Gokarna

This beach offers an amazing view of the ocean surrounded by small green hills. The sand on the beach is super smooth and coconut trees make this isolated beach look like real paradise. You can start your beach trek from paradise beach by walking towards the north (towards your right hand when you are facing sea). In this trek, you have to climb a few hills, walk on rocks which are half dipped in the ocean and few narrow trails passing through bushes. On this trek, the next beach you will reach is Half Moon Beach.

Half Moon Beach, Gokarna: After seeing paradise beach you may feel that you can’t find a better spot than paradise beach, then there comes Halfmoon beach. Half moon beach offers a wider area as compared to paradise beach and has comparatively fewer rocks which make it ideal for enjoying in the water. My friends were not able to resist the water, I bet even you won’t. Just look at them…

Paradise to Halfmoon brach trek

So after around 2 hours of masti in Halfmoon beach, we continued our trek towards our next beach. And the next beach was the most popular beach of Gokarna, the Om beach.

Om Beach, Gokarna: Om beach was the last beach of the trek. In the trek, the view of Om beach from the hilltop is incredible. This beach forms the Sanskrit Om letter with the help of rocks which looks stunning. This beach is pretty wide and you will find more people hanging out on this beach as Om beach is well connected by transportation.

Om Beach, Gokarna

People stay here to watch the sunset from this beach and you may find a few fitness enthusiasts jogging on this beach. Unlike other remote beaches here is a restaurant as well where food and drinks are served with amazing sea view.

Hotels in Gokarna: Being a small town, Gokarna does not have so many hotels and resorts. All major hotel booking websites offer hotels to stay in Gokarna, It is recommended to book your stay in Gokarna before you reach there as sometimes it gets difficult to get hotels on spot.

Nirvana Nature Resort, Gokarna

We stayed in Nirvana Nature resort which was located at Nirvana Beach, a little remote place in Gokarna. To reach Nirvana beach you can take a ferry from Tadadi fishing harbour, they charge as little as 5 INR per person. Nirvana beach is very good for people planning to go beachside camping. To camp at Nirvana Beach, you need to carry your own tents, or you can book camp stay online as well.
