Are NFT Collections in Travel the Next Big Thing?

And which ones are the first?

Etihad, Trip.com and many others are launching NFT collections

Recent weeks have witnessed a flurry of activity in the intersection between the travel industry and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
Here’s a quick overview:

Previous launches like Etihad: EY-ZERO1, Baltic Planies NFTs collection from Baltic Airlines, and Travala Tigers seem to strongly indicate that a new trend is emerging.

The Birth of a Trend

Trends often emerge from bear markets and explode during bull runs.
The growing interest from major corporations in the travel NFT space is a testament to this phenomenon.

The price of the above NFTs isabout $300/400 each today.
Will they be worth thousands, tens of thousands, or even more?

No one knows, but we at Trips Community knew this was coming and wanted to be first.

And we were with The Traveler Loot and the Little Traveler collections.

Here’s another prediction: every.single.travel.corporation.will.have.an.NFT.collection.

So, why am I talking about the “competition” here?
Because the more they move, the more our own NFTs will be relevant.

And, if you are looking for alpha during this bear market, this may be it.

HUNTING OGS?

You’ve heard of Crypto Punks.
A weird experiment from 2017, they were free to mint: $0 + gas.
At the height of the bull market, some were worth up to over $500 Million dollars, and they are still worth around $100,000.
Crazy right?

That volume number is 2 Billion dollars

Why does the market consider them valuable?
Because they have historical value, as they were the first before many others appeared.

Will the same happen with travel NFT?

If the “every.single.travel.corporation.will.have.an.NFT.collection” prediction is correct, yes.

What if you could mint for free now something which will have a high value in the future?

Well, you can.

SOME ARCHEOLOGY

Let’s dig around the blockchain to find out the first NFT collections and create a timeline.
Here’s what I found:

  • 19th of January 2022: Traveler Loot on Ethereum: first travel NFT collection.
  • 6th of February 2022: Little Traveler on Ethereum: first travel PFP collection.

and then all the others:

Now, the interesting part: the first two OG collections are free to mint!
Look:

At today’s gas prices, you can mint one for less than $5.

In fact, it’s already happening as people are minting them again.

🔥 HOW TO MINT YOUR OG FOR FREE (+GAS)🔥

  1. Get some ETH (min $10, better $50 or $100)
  2. Go to https://www.travelerloot.com/ and mint (about $4 with low gas)
  3. Go to https://littletraveler.org/ and mint (about $4 with low gas)

With less than $10 in gas, you will own these potentially historical NFTs.

A suggestion: mint more than one each
If they go up a lot in value, and you only have one, it will be hard to part with them! Have one to keep for yourself and some to sell.

MORE ALPHA?

If you are looking for historical NFTs, you may also find these interesting.

Wrapping it up and TLDR

  • Travel NFTs are a growing phenomenon.
  • Travel NFT collections too.
  • The first 2 travel NFT collections are free to mint.

If things keep going into this direction, minting these NFTs for free now could be the best move you have ever done in crypto!
