Sometimes, I pretend my life is a movie.
Oh please, like you don’t, too.
Because I’m a semi (read: complete) control freak, I find myself planning out aspects of my life, making scenarios happen the way that I want them to happen.
But of course, you can’t plan out your life. A concept I continuously struggle with even now. As an editor, you are tasked with taking raw footage, picking the best takes, and the control of putting together your perfect story.
However, when other people’s creative ideas and views enter in, you find out your “perfect story” wasn’t so perfect. You realize that collaboration makes all the difference — outside influences open your mind to alternative concepts.
Other people’s actions influence your own. You have fears and emotions, and you react on them. Well, at least I do. I could script out my day until I’m blue in the face, but I don’t have control over other people’s actions, and I can’t anticipate my own.
So without further ado, here are a few snippets of things that have actually happened to me during my time here at Trisect, in screenplay form.
The Bathroom Break
As you can see, scripting out my day doesn’t always go as planned. Actually, it rarely does. But most days end up better than I could have imagined.
And honestly, who wants their life to be a movie? How boring.
