30 October 2014 ( day written)

From Lisbon we took our first train journey of our trip to Galè. Pronounced garlee!, three hours, a great ride but rather nothing to see, maybe a learning curve was when you book a first class train ticket you are assigned a seat, so don’t just sit anywhere!!. The train went to Albufeira, Sally and Paul picked us up at the station and we drove to Galė, Sally is a great friend of Trish’s from the eighties in Johannesburg, she now lives in Malvern in England where she is head of middle school at Malvern college , Paul her better half is the deputy head of the same college. This has turned out to be a great relaxing ,sun soaking, drinking and eating part of trip so far .

Sally and Paul’s condo is about 300 metres from the beach with a wrap around balcony and views of the sea from every window. There is three great beach restaurants all within a stones throw of each other all offering fresh fish!! We have partied for five days solid and when Sally and Paul left on Monday Trish and I decided to stay on a further four days, we failed miserably trying to get Sally and Paul to do likewise.

it was the first time that we had met Paul and really got on well and hope that one day we can reciprocate by hosting them in Canada as well as they hosted us.

So to sum up the Algarve we both felt like we were in Cape Town with miles of sandy beaches, golf courses, all though we did not play lots of great fish restaurants, first class supermarkets and would definitely like to return here one day. We have most probably walked 10 km a day on the beach.

Tomorrow we catch the 7.30am bus to Seville. Their is another first!
